Secure Your Discord Account:

Our moderation team is responsible for keeping the Syslx and Syslgame Community Discord servers clean. The last thing we want to do is ban a user, but unfortunately we have to in some cases, such as scam links. Below are some steps you can take to secure your Discord account and prevent the spread of scam links or ads:

1. Add Two-Factor Authentication

2. Make a better password

Now we aren't saying your password is weak, but if your password includes one of the factors below, chances are it's probably not that strong and should be changed so it's not able to be guessed:

  • Never use personal information.
  • Include a combination of letters, numbers, and characters.
  • Prioritize password length (more length = more secure).
  • Never repeat passwords.
  • Avoid using real words.

3. Avoid clicking on links and attachments from a source you aren't familiar with. Especially check what the source name is because a hacker could create a fake replica of a website. Below are some ways to tell if a link is legit or not:

  • Is it from a source you trust?
  • Is the source asking you to enter information?
  • Have you checked the entire email address to see if what comes after the @ is legit?
  • Have you checked the entire URL to see where it will direct you to?
  • Are there typos?
  • Does it seem too good to be true?
  • Do you have an AntiVirus Software installed (such as Kaspersky, Norton, or Avira) to protect you?

Whenever you are in doubt, contact the supposed sender using a different method of communication. For example: If an email claims to be Discord and you are unsure if it's really Discord, then visit the Discord Support website and submit a ticket to check if it's legit.

So what happens if I already put in my information to a possible phishing site?

Immediately change your password to a stronger one, remove any payment methods, and follow the methods provided in this channel to keep your account secure and prevent another possible hack.

If you get locked out of your account in the case that a hacker has already changed your information, you can try and reset the password via your email or other method of verification.

In conclusion:

We don't want to see someone get banned for getting hacked. We understand not everyone will see this and account hacks will continue to happen, but we hope this will better inform and help more of our users on what you can do to stay safe online.

Thank you!
